Senior Thesis
I am working on a Computer Science senior thesis with Princeton University professor Barbara Engelhardt. My work is focused on analyzing systems for predictive recidivism to better understand the implications of racially biased data and algorithms, which continue to play significant, and often harmful, roles in the U.S. policing and criminal justice systems. I am currently working with COMPAS data in Python to identify relationships between risk assessments and offender race. One of the primary goals of my work is to demonstrate how outcomes change when intelligent systems focus on community safety and take into account alternative conflict resolution resources, such as mental health or medical care services, over traditional forms of policing.
